Who We Are

Free Methodists are a diverse group of believers, hailing from all walks of life. Our leadership across the Southern California conference mirrors that diversity through a commitment to an equal mix of clergy and lay leaders (non-clergy), the empowerment of traditionally underrepresented people, and the engagement of communities across the broad socioeconomic spectrum that makes up Southern California.

Board of Administration

The Board of Administration (commonly called the BOA) functions as the standing administrative committee of the conference between Annual Conference seatings. Their focus is to create and manage policy of the entire conference within the limits of the Book of Discipline.

Kingdom Ministry Group

The purpose of the Kingdom Ministry Group is to see to the development of sustainable and vital Free Methodist Societies by fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Annual Conference to sponsor church planting projects and care for societies requiring revitalization.

The Management Group

This board provides oversight and leadership for The Management Group, a for-benefit corporation of the Free Methodist Church in Southern California that provides bookkeeping and administrative services for eligible ministries.

Ministerial Appointments Committee

The Ministerial Appointments Committee (commonly called the MAC) is responsible for appointing qualified ministers to ministries and monitoring progress and growth.

Ministerial Education & Guidance Committee

The Ministerial Education and Guidance Committee (commonly called the MEG) is responsible for qualifying, guiding, counseling, and mentoring candidates for ordination as they prepare for ministry. In addition, the MEG is responsible for pastoral accountability, disciplinary actions, and partnering in restoration.

Nominating Committee

The nominating committee is responsible for preparing for the annual conference a list of nominations for positions vacated by either resignation or expiration of terms. This committee also reviews board and committee memberships in light of the standing rules of the annual conference.

Property & Finance Committee

The Property and Finance Committee is a standing committee that is responsible to the Board of Administration for reviewing and recommending action on all matters concerning property and financial actions of the local church and the conference at large. The property and finance committee may also fulfill special projects as assigned by the Board of Administration.
